Amor
City, State: Saint-Petersburg, Russia
Role, Responsibilities:
The director of Photography, film editor, choreographer, did a little
bit of make-up.
The way I got
into the project: The same way I got into previous two films.
How could I live without my own "Fellowship"?!
General impression:
It was good, though the third year was different from the previous
two. The whole first film had been a miracle and inspiration, inspite
of all difficulties and our lack of experience. The second film
had been more difficult because of weather conditions, but we already
had some experience and were able to do some new stuff, we were
studiyng. In the third film the class of participants has grown,
but also the inspiration of some actors has decreased a little.
Of course, it's difficult to do the same thing three years running,
not everyone can "love for ever", as men say. Nevertheless
this decrease was very tiny. I suppose that our team is an unbelievable
phenomenon of the inexhaustible call for creation and working together.
The only pity is that we haven't got the really emotional final
of the last shooting day. You know it was the final of our The Lord
of the Rings! I believed it would be a sea of tears and general
rejoicing. The weather had been merciful to us in the last two years,
but this year the last shooting day was the real trial for everybody.
Soaked through extras just weren't able to shout "Hurrah!" with
such enthusiasm as could be wished. We have been literary standing
in the water for the whole day, it was cold and wet. So we just
were happy that we've done it and haven't ruined the camera. In
general this year's shooting was very impressive; to my surprise
extras were great this year not only with their diligence but also
with their quantity and quality of their costumes. And I was very
fond of new characters even the minor ones. An audience definitly
will be pleasantly surprised.
The best moments:
There are a lot, again I would recall something right now and then
would realize that there is something else great to remember. It's
so difficult to choose something. But I would remember the coronation.
It was just the amazing occasion even irrelative of shooting, though
I haven't sat a minute in 8 or 9 hours running. Also I've remembered
the shooting of pirates, when I've filmed in the cold weather in
the rain standing on the bow of the ship back-on. But then we've
got an excellent shot! If only it was no rain, we could even have
a sail. The death of Denetor was great, hobbits dancing on the table
were great too, and so was my actual inspiration - Sam! Archi in
this film was moving to tears. She and Polly have worked really
hard near Kirith-Ungol.
What do you
think would be the next project of the Fellowship art-group?
I think we should change the theme, because Tolkien is sacred, and
if we explored his theme all the time, we could unintentionally
fall into monotony, could spoil the impression, and it would be
terrible if we became tired of Tolkien. So it must not be too much
of good things, and we've already got our good of it. Whatever sad
is the farewell, it should come. But I beleive, we shouldn't say
goodbye to the world of dreams and fantasy. Fairytales, myths, fantasy
stories, music, singing and dancing are all our strong points. Anyhow
we will deal with them. I have some ideas yet for a long time, which
are known to the director and producer and we would bring them to
life, if we would have wish and possibility. Now I think more of
the third TOTR, while it is a thing that united us once. I want
to do my best to complete it with dignity.
